Announcement of the Ministry of Health regarding new cases of COVID-19 disease
The Ministry of Health informs that a total of 10,832 tests were performed today to detect COVID-19 disease consisting of 5,167 PCR Tests and 5,665 Rapid Antigen Detection Tests.
A. Molecular Examination ( PCR test ): Of the 10,832 laboratory tests, 5,167 laboratory diagnoses were performed by the molecular method (PCR), with 234 cases of COVID-19 disease, which resulted as follows:
- Out of 484 samples taken through the process of tracking the contacts of already confirmed cases, 126 cases were identified.
- Out of 1,351 samples taken through private initiative, 8 cases were identified.
- From 268 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 26 cases were identified.
- Out of 252 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics, 5 cases were identified.
- Out of 344 samples taken as part of the passenger and repatriate control, 1 case was detected.
- Out of 1,085 samples taken in the Limassol District as part of the control of employees who fall under the exemptions for movement to and from the Limassol and Paphos Districts, 8 cases were identified.
- From 327 samples taken in the District of Paphos in the context of control of employees who fall under the exemptions for movement to and from the Districts of Limassol and Paphos, 2 cases were identified.
- Out of 175 samples taken in Larnaca District as part of the control of employees who fall under the exemptions for movement to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 1 case was identified.
- Out of 430 samples taken under the control program of students, teachers and school staff, 5 cases were identified.
- Of the 52 samples taken as part of the laboratory testing program in nursing homes and other structures, 52 cases were identified.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were performed without detecting a case:
- From samples taken in the District of Nicosia in the context of control of employees who fall under the exemptions for movement to and from the Districts of Limassol and Paphos, 219 laboratory tests were completed,
- From laboratory samples taken in the Province of Famagusta in the context of control of employees who fall under the exemptions for movement to and from the Provinces of Limassol and Paphos, 52 laboratory diagnoses were performed,
- From samples taken under the immigration structure control program, 25 laboratory diagnoses were completed, and
- From samples taken from the inhabitants of Kato Pyrgos Tyllirias, 103 laboratory diagnoses were completed.
B. Rapid antigen detection test ( Antigen Rapid test ): 5665 tests performed by the method of fast (rapid test antigen detection), with 70 positives.
In addition, the positive result was verified by the molecular test method for 28 samples of positive results detected by the rapid antigen test method in the previous days. Positive rapid antigen detection tests confirmed by PCR are included in the number of daily cases and the total number of cases below.
Therefore, based on the data so far, the total number of cases is 8,947.
C. Patients:
In total, 110 COVID-19 patients are treated in OKYPY hospitals.
