Coronavirus: 2 deaths and 374 new cases announced on Sunday 14th March

Announcement of the Ministry of Health regarding new cases of COVID-19 disease

The Ministry of Health announces that today, March 14, 2021:

– Two people have died of COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 240.

– 205 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 37 are in serious condition.

– A total of 41,269 disease detection tests have been performed with the molecular method (PCR) and the method of antigen rapid detection (antigen rapid test).

– 374 (positivity rate: 0.91%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), bringing the total number of cases to 39,651 .

The current results are detailed.

A. Deaths from COVID-19 disease:

The two people who died with the ultimate cause of death attributed to COVID-19 are:

– A 49-year-old man with an underlying disease, who ended up today at the Limassol General Hospital.

– A woman, 88 years old, without reporting underlying diseases in the Medical Certificate of Causes of Death, which ended today at Larnaca General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 240, of which:

159 men (66%), and

– 81 women (34%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 79 years.



B. Patients:

In total, 205 patients with COVID-19 are treated in OKYPY hospitals, of which 37 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 37 patients who are critical, 19 are intubated, five are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 13 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive cases COVID -19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 41,269 laboratory diagnoses performed today, 2,327 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 38,942 by the antigen rapid test method, 374 cases of COVID-19 were identified, which resulted as follows:
