Coronavirus: 2 deaths and 348 cases announced

On Thursday the Ministry of Health announced 348 cases of COVID-19, consisting of 249 cases from PCR Tests and 99 cases confirmed from positive Rapid Tests taken over previous days. Two deaths were also announced.

Announcement of the Ministry of Health regarding new cases of COVID-19 disease

The death of two patients with COVID-19 is announced. The ultimate cause of death is attributed to COVID-19. Specifically, these are:

– A woman, 87 years old, with underlying diseases, who was treated at the General Hospital of Nicosia.

– An 87-year-old man with a serious medical history, who was hospitalized at the General Hospital of Famagusta, after being transferred from the Ekali Rehabilitation Center in Limassol.

Thus, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 54.36 men (67%) and 18 women (33%), with an average age of 76 years.

In addition, the Ministry of Health informs that a total of 9,923 tests were performed today to detect COVID-19 disease.

A. Molecular Examination ( PCR test ): Of the 9,923 laboratory tests, 3,525 laboratory diagnoses were performed by the molecular method (PCR), with 249 cases of COVID-19 disease, which resulted as follows:



In addition, the following laboratory tests were performed without detecting a case:

B. Rapid antigen detection test ( Antigen Rapid test ): Since the 9923 tests, 6398 performed by the method of fast (rapid test antigen detection), with 162 positive results.

In addition, the positive result was verified by the molecular test method for 99 samples of positive results detected by the rapid antigen test method in the previous days. Positive rapid antigen detection tests confirmed by PCR are included in the total number of cases below.

Therefore, based on the data so far, the total number of cases is 11,523.

C. Patients:

In total, 124 COVID-19 patients are treated in OKYPY hospitals.
