Announcement of the Ministry of Health regarding new cases of COVID-19 disease
The death of another male patient with COVID-19, aged 86, with a serious medical history, who was treated at the General Hospital of Famagusta, is announced. The ultimate cause of death is attributed to COVID-19. The total number of deaths ending in COVID-19 is 34. (21 men (62%) and 13 women (38%)), with an average age of 75 years.
he Ministry of Health informs that, according to information received today by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit from contracting laboratories, out of a total of 2,891 laboratory diagnoses, 185 new cases of COVID-19 were identified.
In detail, the current cases emerged as follows:
- Out of 653 samples taken through the process of tracking the contacts of already confirmed cases, 54 cases were identified.
- Out of 1,127 samples taken through private initiative, 107 cases were identified.
- From 242 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 16 cases were identified.
- Out of 175 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Doctors and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics, 1 case was identified.
- Out of 270 samples taken under the control program of students, teachers and school staff, 5 cases were identified.
- From 1 sample taken under the immigration structure control program, 1 case was identified.
- Out of 70 samples taken during the sampling carried out by the KOP in Associations participating in its events, 1 case was identified.
In addition, the laboratory test of 353 samples taken in the context of passenger and repatriated control was completed, without detecting cases.
Therefore, based on the data so far, the total number of cases is 6,646.
In addition, the Famagusta General Hospital treats 51 people positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, six of whom are in the Intensive Care Unit. In addition, the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital treats a total of seven patients, two of whom are out of ventilator. Another ten people are being treated in a COVID-19 ward at the Nicosia General Hospital.
