Coronavirus: 1 Death and 254 cases announced on Wednesday

Announcement of the Ministry of Health regarding new cases of COVID-19 disease

The death of an 82-year-old man with COVID-19 patient, with underlying diseases, who was hospitalized at the Limassol General Hospital after being transferred from the Multipurpose Center of Kyperounta, is announced. The ultimate cause of death is attributed to COVID-19. Thus, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 47, 31 men (66%) and 16 women (34%), with an average age of 75 years.

In addition, the Ministry of Health informs that a total of 11,986 tests were performed today to detect COVID-19 disease, consisting of 6,431 PCR Tests and 5,555 Antigen Rapid Tests.

A. Molecular examination ( PCR test ): 6,431 laboratory diagnoses were performed by the molecular method (PCR), with 208 cases of COVID-19 disease, which resulted as follows:



In addition, the following laboratory tests were performed without detecting a case:

B. Rapid antigen detection test ( Antigen Rapid test ): 5,555 performed by the method of fast (rapid test antigen detection), with 97 positives. (Limassol 20, Larnaca 30, Famagusta 11, Nicosia 34 and National Guard two.)

In addition, the positive result was verified by the molecular test method for 46 samples of positive results detected by the rapid antigen test method in the previous days. Two other positive rapid test results were not verified by the molecular test. Positive rapid antigen detection tests confirmed by PCR are included in the number of daily cases and the total number of cases below.

Therefore, based on the data so far, the total number of cases is 9,453.

C. Patients:

In total, 107 COVID-19 patients are treated in OKYPY hospitals.
