Announcement of the Ministry of Health regarding new cases of COVID-19.

The death of a male patient with COVID-19, aged 91, with an extremely serious medical history who had been transferred the previous days from Socrates Melathro Nursing Home and was treated at the General Hospital of Famagusta, is announced. The ultimate cause of death is attributed to septic shock. The total number of deaths in patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus is 34, and the deaths from the ultimate cause of COVID-19 remain 26, 17 men and 9 women, with an average age of 73 years.

In addition, the Ministry of Health informs that, according to information received today by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit from contracting laboratories, out of a total of 2,706 laboratory diagnoses, in addition to the 35 cases* reported earlier by the nursing home, 162 new COID cases were reported.

In addition, the Famagusta General Hospital treats 27 people positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, four of whom are in the Intensive Care Unit. In addition, five patients are still being treated in the Intensive Care Unit at the Nicosia General Hospital, while another eight people are being treated in a COVID-19 ward.
