Announcement of the Ministry of Health regarding new cases of COVID-19 disease
The Ministry of Health informs that, according to information received today by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit from contracting laboratories, out of a total of 3,529 laboratory diagnoses, 166 new cases of COVID-19 were identified.
In detail, the current cases emerged as follows:
- Out of 488 samples taken through the process of tracking the contacts of already confirmed cases, 63 cases were identified.
- Out of 1,003 samples taken through private initiative, 65 cases were identified.
- Out of 174 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 7 cases were identified.
- Out of 928 samples taken as part of the passenger and repatriate control, 15 cases were identified.
- Out of 254 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics, 8 cases were identified.
- Out of 198 samples taken under the control program of students, teachers and school staff, 3 cases were identified.
- From 175 samples taken as part of the sampling carried out by the KOP in Associations participating in its events, 2 cases were identified.
- Out of 309 samples taken under the immigrant structures control program, 3 cases were identified.
Therefore, based on the data so far, the total number of cases is 5,100.
In addition, the Famagusta General Hospital treats 40 people positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, five of whom are in the Intensive Care Unit. In addition, at the Nicosia General Hospital, five patients are still being treated in the Intensive Care Unit, while another 12 people are being treated in a COVID-19 ward.
