There are not too many people in the world who would dedicate so much time to volunteering for non-profit causes. Volunteering must come from the heart, giving up personal time to help those in need is a very special thing to do and indeed, it does take someone special to carry it all out.
Such people are very hard to come by and once they do, whichever non-profit is benefitting from their generous giving of time must do everything in its power to keep those volunteers very close for as long as possible.
For Animal Rescue Cyprus, blessed as the organization is with many volunteers who dedicate time and energy to the cause, there are two people who will always leave us speechless with their service to the animals, with their dedication to and help in our every day activities…
James and Alison are THE BEST people any organization should fight any battle to have them as part of the team. They give up time, energy and money to help the dogs they so dearly love. For many years – since 2015 to be precise – with the exception of holidays, every single day come rain or shine, James and Alison have visited their dogs and helped us all tremendously by doing that. Every morning, be it in the scorching heat and humidity or in heavy rain and cold, they are visiting the dogs who are in treatment and walking those who can be walked, the majority. Then, every afternoon, they go to the shelter where they walk, socialize and give basic training to so many dogs. All this when they could do something entirely different… If this is not the image of dedication and total love of dogs than what is?
Part of their very important job is assessing dogs for rehoming. This is a vital part of our work where every single dog must have his/her character assessed before being advertised for rehoming on our dedicated page (https://facebook.com/paphiakosrehoming), and so James and Alison’s help is essential as what they are doing is making so that dogs find perfect homes.
