Pafos United Walking Football May Update

We were delighted to welcome players from Blackburn Walking Football club who played two matches against us in March. They came to us with a very high reputation and indeed their under 60’s team gave us a lesson in walking football winning 8-0.

However, our over 60s team showed the benefit of playing together by drawing the match 1 -1made all the more remarkable as the Blackburn team have recently competed and won in a National competition.

After the matches the teams enjoyed a buffet at the Local taverna. They were surprised by the appearance of Pafos United Captain Jason Puncheon who raffled one of his shirts.

Our women’s team are due to play a team from Scotland in late March having previously played a Scotland select team. We have unfortunately lost a few of our women players and we are shortly to start a campaign to attract more women players to the club. We are grateful to Viva FM who are helping us in our campaign.

We have now started a short competition between our various age groups which will give them experience before playing matches against a number of visiting teams this year from the UK.

Our Player of the Month for March went to one of our most experienced players who excelled in the match against Blackburn. Our picture shows Chief Coach Graham Ward presenting the award to Dave Senior.
