Pafos United Walking Football August Update

We were shocked this month by the sudden resignation of our founder Malcolm Bushell.

Malcolm has worked tirelessly since the formation in February 2019 to progress the club. We knew he was intending to leave at the next AGM but he decided to resign now and will be proceeding with other interests. This resignation followed the resignation of another founder member Charlie Charlesworth who again has worked so hard and brought in much needed sponsorship to the club.Charlie will continue to play football at the club.

The club are indebted to both for the way they have helped the club develop. An emergency meeting of the committee is meeting to discuss replacements.

July saw the ending of the 2nd mini league competition sponsored by 24 Seven Security. The winners.Stroumbi Pirates were presented with the trophy at a Presentation morning.Numerous trophies were awarded including Player of the Day to Dave Senior who also had the top scorer award having scored 17 goals including 6 goals in the last two matches. .Player of the tournament went to goalkeeper Steve Drew.

It was good to see Billy Osborne at the event and he was belatedly awarded the Fairgame Sportsman of the Year award. Photo shows Billy being presented with the award by Charlie Charlesworth.

We continue to play in the Cyprus heat although numbers at the day time sessions have slightly reduced. The Wednesday evening sessions, slightly cooler continue to be fully booked.
