Coral Bay Bowls Club

A FOND FAREWELL TO A MUCH RESPECTED CORAL BAY MEMBER

At a funeral attended by more than 80 guests, members of Coral Bay Bowls Club paid tribute to a long term friend, Alan Osborne, who, sadly, passed away on December 8th after a three year battle with cancer. Alan was a much loved club character, always cheerful and positive, on and off the green, and throughout his illness. Donations were made to a collection at the funeral for the Cancer Patients Support Group. Alan’s wife, Linda, would like to express her gratitude to all who attended Alan’s funeral and for their generous donations. Also her gratitude for the help she was given by the Cancer Patients Support Group during Alan’s illness and stays in hospital.

Coral Bay’s Swallows Team rise to the top again!

With the help of their other team mates – the Kestrels and the Wagtails also taking points from their opponents in the Shirley and Ivan League –the Swallows won the competition overall.  Coral Bay Swallows gained a points difference of 165 to come first against Aliathon Kingfishers’ 151.5 with Coral Bay Kestrels coming a fabulous third with 114 points difference.

Last spring the Swallows were also champions in the Bowls Cyprus Chase Buchanan TENS league, beating a total of eight other teams. The other teams were from Coral Bay, Aliathon, Peyia and Aphrodite (Erimi) bowls clubs.

Well done the SWALLOWS!

It’s January 2019 and bowlers are looking forward to entering three teams in the upcoming TENS league competition. Coral Bay’s Swallows, Kestrels and Wagtails hope to bring some excellent bowling to the competition. All of our members wish them success in this league.
