Greetings from Limassol Parish

As we reflect over the past twelve months our thoughts go to those we have lost and those we care for who are sick. The pandemic affected us all and the place many of us turn to for guidance and care in these difficult and challenging times was closed.

Yes, our churches for the most part of the year, were closed for services, our church buildings were not available for meetings and gatherings, our congregations dwindled when we were open and here in Limassol last year, we were without a full time chaplain for many months.. Challenging times indeed.

In October our new Chaplain, Rev Ian Nicholson and his wife Carol, arrived in Cyprus and took up residence in the St Barnabas Church House, we feel blessed to have them both here in Limassol Parish.

After several postponements, due to the pandemic, he was licensed by Archbishop Michael Lewis on Tuesday 19th January in St Barnabas Church.

So, what does this year have in store for us?

Hopefully the vaccine will be given to everyone, the restrictions will be lifted, we will grow stronger and closer. Our churches, clubs, salons, schools etc will all be able to open as normal. We shall be allowed to hug our friends and relatives.

Are we being optimistic?

What will normal be like?

Here at St Barnabas’ Church we are looking forward, and planning ahead. We want to reach out to everyone in the Parish, whether you attend St Barnabas Church in Limassol or St Lazarus’ in Pissouri, we look forward to welcoming you back.

We continue to relay our Sunday service via Zoom and hope soon to be able to open our hall and grounds for other meetings, celebrations, table top sales and fundraising events.
